The Best Lens Ever Made? Possibly

If you could pick the best lens ever made, what would you choose?

Well, I have several lenses to pick from, as you know. But what is the most practical lens for just about any situation you come up on?

It is not the 50mm. Good lens, but to restrictive, and not creative enough.

It is not the 70-200mm. To large and heavy for general use, and not wide in its range.
